Sarida Scott – Executive Director

Sarida Scott has served as the Executive Director for the Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD) since September 2012.  Prior to coming to CDAD, she worked at Michigan Community Resources, holding positions as Legal Director and Chief Program Officer.  She has worked in the community development industry and local government, combined, for more than fifteen years.  Sarida received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley (1997) and her B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan (1993).

Sarida’s work experience has been concentrated in the areas of nonprofit legal compliance, education and community engagement.  Additionally, she has served on a number of boards and is currently serving as a board member for the Mercy Education Project, the Michigan League for Public Policy and Heritage Works.  Sarida is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Detroit Revitalization Fellows Program.  She lives in Detroit with her husband and daughter.


Madhavi ReddyStrategic Framework Manager

Madhavi is CDAD’s Strategic Framework Manager and CDAD’s very own Canadian!  She is from Toronto and has been calling Detroit her home since 2012.  Her professional experience includes working in a college dorm, anti-racist organizational change work, immigrant and newcomer settlement, community revitalization, homelessness prevention and developing workers’ cooperatives and social purpose enterprises.  When she isn’t working for CDAD, Madhavi enjoys screen printing, exploring Detroit, coloring outside the lines and lofty ideas.  She lives in a quiet Northwest neighborhood where she can be found spending time with her family, walking her dog and coming up with zany ideas with her inspiring neighbors.


LaToya MorganPublic Policy Manager

LaToya is the public policy manager at CDAD. She is a  nonprofit professional with an eclectic background in public policy, program and organizational  development. Specifically, LaToya has worked in city government and state government including time with noted former city council president Maryann Mahaffey; contributed to various political campaigns since she was a child;  and she has been on staff at  large and small nonprofit organizations in the city of Detroit in leadership and in fundraising.  LaToya provides leadership in developing CDAD’s policy agenda and advancing the policy interests of  its members.


Kyra ThomasCommunications Administrator

Kyra is the communications administrator at CDAD. She has been in administration for over seven years working with non-profit and faith-based organizations. Being the eldest of six children, communications and administrating became apart of Kyra at an early age. She is a native Detroiter, with no intentions of leaving her great city and is committed to sharing and circulating vital information to our members. When she is not administrating, she enjoys reading books, trying new restaurants, shopping and styling clients.


Aaron GoodmanCommunity Engagement Manager

Aaron brings over ten years of experience engaging in a broad spectrum of social, economic, and environmental justice issues in SE Michigan and abroad.  He has a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan with a specialization in participatory community engagement and land-use planning.  Prior to joining the CDAD team Aaron was the Coordinator for the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition.  He was also previously the Manager of the Eastside Farmers Market for the Warren/Conner Development Coalition and at Michigan Community Resources as a member of the Detroit Works Project Civic Engagement Team.   Aaron served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for three years in the West African nations of Mauritania and Senegal.  Aaron lives in Detroit and is committed to working towards a just and equitable future for all Detroiters.
