On Thursday, May 24th, the Detroit City Council passed the 2012-13 budget for the City of Detroit, including the Community Development Block Grant and Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (CDBG/NOF) budgets that grant federal funds to neighborhood organizations. The second column of the attached PDF reflects the over $34 million of these funds allocated by the City Council to neighborhood organizations in Detroit. (The final budget numbers were the Detroit City Council Recommended number, not the Mayor Recommended amount, in the attached document.) Mayor Bing has until Monday, June 4th to veto this budget or it becomes law. A veto could be overridden by a 2/3 vote of the City Council. Since the budget was approved 6-3, it is likely that this budget will be the final one.
