The design of a sustainability strategy for the overall community development system: the “Fund for Neighborhoods”
The creation and launch of the collaborative governance structure for the overall community development system
The creation of a robust partnership with the City of Detroit
Structure and Process for Phase Two
The three Core Partners – CDAD, MNA, LTU – will continue to strategically guide and take responsibility for the Phase Two Work, working with Initiative Manager Maggie DeSantis and a small team. The Partners will engage expert consultants for the above design work. The Core Partners will also continue to engage the scores of Phase One Stakeholders, and welcome more, through the formation of four separate working groups:
1. An Advisory Council composed of the full range of key stakeholders will be organized and offer strategic advice on the over-arching challenges including the Fund For Neighborhoods, the partnership with the City of Detroit and the formation of the Stakeholder Consortium. This Advisory Council will also be professionally facilitated to eventually evolve into the Stakeholder Consortium.
2. A Certification and Capacity Building Advisory Team will focus on the re-tooling of our current community development capacity building system; and the design of a complementary organizational certification system.
3. A Research, Data and Evaluation Advisory Team will focus on influencing the design of Data Driven Detroit’s “Regional Data Collaborative” to accommodate community development needs, finalizing Neighborhood Success Measures and designing a community development evaluation system.
4. An Academic Tracks Advisory Team will focus on developing a community development career pathway, then forming an academic collaborative which in turn will create community development academic tracks from high school through Bachelors-level credentialing.
Finally, periodically the Core Partners will convene the Phase One “Kitchen Cabinet” affinity groups to provide opportunities for information sharing and strategizing among like stakeholders.
