CDAD advocates for a strong and effective Community Benefits Ordinance (CBO)
CDAD advocates for a strong and effective Community Benefits Ordinance (CBO). Detroit voters adopted the CBO in 2016. Through our long-standing participation in the Equitable Detroit / Community Benefits Coalition, we have pushed for changes to the CBO to lower the threshold, strengthen neighborhood voice and representation, ensure accountability and enforceability. CDAD and our members participated in the process that resulted in the City Council amending the CBO in 2021.
In addition, through the Equitable Detroit Coalition, CDAD informed the 2018 Charter Revision process around equitable development and community benefit provisions. We support community benefits agreements that directly benefit Detroiters and Detroit neighborhoods.
